[mothered]

I've spoken to Amazon twice now. The first time they went through and investigation, and now they're wanting a police report. Does it need to be a legitimate police report that they can cross-check with the PD or can I find and fake one online?

Never falsify a police report.

They simply require It to move forward with your claim, so file one at your local police station and await their response.

I've never made a police report, or seen the process and I'm reading mixed things online. If I file one, will I have police show up at my address to interview me about the situation or can I simply file one online and that be the end of it (since they likely won't look far into a $100 potential item theft).

The police have better things to do with their time, than waste their resources on a claim that they're not Involved with In any capacity whatsoever.

I've filed countless reports on low value Items, and have yet to have an officer knocking at my door. The last thing you need Is to stress over the matter so If you're not comfortable with It, don't file a report.
