a couple of weeks back i SEed a few HDD's which were roughly about £394 and the agent i spoke to on phone was able to refund this straight away for me using the DNA method - This order however at £550 is classed as a high value item and needs another teams approval/ authorisation.
So i think maybe the cross over point is somewhere between 400 and 550... anyone else have any insight on this?
It depends on your account on what they class as 'high risk / value'. If your account is in very good standing, they won't deem most items as high risk.
On one of my good standing accounts, I had 3 x Xbox One X's sent to me + a refund, without question. This was a special gold edition console with BFV included, £400~ each. So I got around £1200ish worth of profit in one go. That account is now in bad standing.
On one of my latest accounts, now that I've been banned a few times, they refuse to replace/refund a £45 item, calling it high risk / value.
Sounds like you were deemed as low risk when you did the HDDs and now your account / address / name is looking higher risk than it used to.
From what I've seen, their systems have a % return rate on your address / account, if you're below a certain % threshold, their systems will allow their retail team (the ones you first talk to when you go on live chat) to give refunds and have all the powers that the internal team have. You will be classed as low risk of stealing their item (not returning / SEing them). They will do anything the customer basically tells them to do, refund or replacement, even if you want it advanced. They will literally kiss your ass so that you'll be happy and give good feedback, etc.
If you're above the return threshold (aka you've done too many), you will be classed as high risk and the retail team won't be able to refund you, they'll usually tell you that they're getting an internal member to talk to you on live chat and transfer you to them. Your chances of getting these internal guys to do ANYTHING is pretty much low. You will have to provide them with police reports and/or tracking details for any returns you do. They follow the rules by the book and won't give you the benefit of the doubt, no matter how good you are at SEing. I basically just shut down my live chat window the second I see them transferring me.
Some good insight there... i think i need to lay off amazon for a while now and start to rebuild my main account after a few refunds...
