[mothered]

Is there a specific item that people usually search for? Is there a way to search for such a weight?

Depending on the website, the weight Is usually listed In the product's description.

If not, Google It- you will find results.

Is it the shipping weight I need or just the product weight? Sometimes the amount of crap that Amazon put into a box is silly.

Shipping weight Is the "Gross weight" (Item & packaging). Product weight Is the "Net weight" (only the Item).

It's the latter (Item) that you must take Into account- you're SEing that, not the packaging.
