Hm that's a heavy price.  I feel like they'd find a way to get you to get a police report done before they take any action, even in that case.  It's a smart approach though, let us know if you do try it!

Why would they ask for a police report? I won’t ask them to refund me thru their CS. I will just return the item, which will look like brand new and unsealed.

If you send the package and the wrong item is in there, they may assume it was stolen.  A "theft" has occurred and a police report should be filed.  I don't even think they check returns tbh (in my experience), but if they were to do so with an item of that price, I'm sure it wouldn't be that easy
