Since posting this, they have blocked my account and I am about to email them the following.

Hey, this morning I was speaking with my wife about this whole incident, as she was the one at the park with my son, and she was telling me about how it is a shame that the camera broke sa she has had it so long, and i thought that was strange as i had only just bought the gopro, so i asked her which camera caught fire and she said my old gopro hero 4, which i have owned for several years now.

I am terribly sorry for wasting your time, is whole incident was caused by a miscommunication between me and my wife and I should have clarified with her before contacting you, but I was so angry at the time because of how dangerous the incident was.

All I request is that you unlock my account so that I can return the gopro, as I have decided that I no longer need it - or if you prefer, please can you send me a return label instead of unlocking my account.

Is this a good idea?

Valid point, and should serve as a general guidance to others.

However (unless I've overlooked something), viewing all comments thus far and given the OP hasn't submitted the aforementioned response to Amazon, there Isn't any Identifiable Information that can be linked to the account holder- nor the account Itself.
