Well what's your reply when Amazon starts checking your refund history and sees a bunch of refunds and asks you about it?

They (Amazon) have authorized the refunds, so there should be no need to explain yourself when Amazon approved It to begin with.

An analogy Is when I physically refund an Item at a given retailer, they don't call me a week later asking why the refund took place. "They" performed It, "they" are the ones accountable for their actions.
