There are two types --> DoS = Denial of Service --> DDoS = Distributed Denial of Service
Both attacks do the exact same thing --> Deny a connection...
A DoS attack overloads a server/victim with requests causing it to crash. All you need is one computer to DoS an IP address or AP. A DDoS attack is nothing more than multiple computers/machines (botnet) performing a DoS attack simultaneously. You can also use this method when cracking a wireless AP. A DoS attack on a WPA/WPA2 router can speed up the process of grabbing a handshake from a router. That way you're not sitting around waiting for a new device to connect.
