Hi sinister.li,

I have an idea already a few weeks. I was thinking is it possible to use more LAN-cables and double your speed. I know it's not possible by just connecting it, but would it be possible if you would have like a mini VM that just handles an internet connection for download/upload. Than the host would download a part, and the guest would download a part.

For example:

• A computer with 3 LAN slots

• A 30 GB file

• The 2 vm's that would handle the internet connection

In this case I would mean that the host computer downloads 10 GB and the other 2 VM's would download 10 GB per VM as well. When all 3 files are done downloading the program would merge it back into one file.

!! This would only have a speed advantage when you would have 3 different ISP's because when you have same ISP it would still remain as fast as before !!

So my question to you guys, is this possible?

I guess it would be possible however you wouldn't really get any advantage from it considering since the VMs are being hosted on one machine, that machine's OS + the 2 VMs would just eat up all of the resources, not increasing DL speed at all. That doesn't necessarily mean you can only benefit from having different ISPs for the computers though. While download speed depends on your ISP, it also depends on your computer's processing power meaning you could still benefit, but it would have to be 3 separate machines rather than 3 machines hosted on 1.
