Non-visible information can be put anywhere on the page even outside of the <head> tags. Javascript, PHP, you can put both of those outside of the <head> tags if you want, sometimes it's better to have them in <head> tags, for certain reasons though.
Yeah I know, what I meant by "non-visible information" was more like configuration, but it didn't seem too apropriate.
