oh no doubt. you wont get a good job without EITHER C/C++ OR Java... but if you want a great job, you should know both.



Everybody is hating java because those doing it have realized that it is a language for five year olds who are unable to do the real stuff.

adapted: those who cannot program (machine code/asm) use a high level language; those who cannot use that, use java.

I'm with you in this point - you should definitely know both.

However, I personally find Java to be a good and functional language - if you don't need the execution speed of Assembly, you use C, if you don't need that speed you use Java, it's got the benefit of running on it's own platform, allowing it to be executed on almost any OS, or from a web page.

Java is the only language I kinda know. Java is great.

I think Java is great - I started doing programming in Java, but am now learning C/C++ I think Java is quite similar to C/C++ in syntax, as far as I've seen. It executes slightly slower, but on more platforms. You have to trade one if you want the other.
