Do's:
Minimal rainmeter.
Color scheme fitting well
Solid color background

Don'ts:
Double clock. NEVER double clock. You have one in the bottom right for a reason.
Don't make your desktop look like a spaceship.
Don't have 2 system infos.
No generic/default fonts

That is pretty minimal
I like the spaceship look
and there's no clock on the bottom right :O
