An Update on the Domain Situation

I wanted to make a brief announcement about the domain situation. As many of you know, our last domain was shut down due to compliance issues with the .LY issuer. These are not legal issues, but entirely compliance-related.

While we were given mostly radio silence, it was disclosed that the decision came from above. I was told that the domain had already received a "second chance" under NekoElf, which was not shared with me originally. They stated there is a history of non-compliance that goes beyond my ownership. The registrar has not made an effort to disclose which policies were violated, despite numerous attempts, and we have not been given a chance to correct things.

This isn't exactly breaking news, but it is highly likely .LI will be our new home. I do not believe Libya operates with proper procedures and they did not give us a chance to appeal. While that may be due to NekoElf's administration, I am not blaming anyone. That said, it is unlikely we will return to .LY as our domain.

While we may be able to re-obtain or appeal it in the future, the lack of communication has made it evident that the .LY domain is no longer a good place for freedom of speech or content. Libya (the issuer) is a majority-Muslim country and even content like pornography or warez is frowned upon.

I appreciate everyone that's returned since the relaunch and I hope people stick around despite the new domain. The site will stay online and I'll continue to send out emails to get the word out. I believe the new domain is a blessing in disguise, as we will have more freedom with what content we allow.

TL;DR: We tried appealing, the domain issuers have given us radio silence, and it is likely .LI will remain our new home. Content restrictions will be lifted more, going forward.
