Whole process from time of purchase to money back in your account takes about 10-14 days.
Always use live chat for apple. I think they are able to cross-reference voices. If you are doing it one time, you should be good, however if you're planning to SE apple multiple times, live chat.

I'm also from Canada but don't see any live chat option for Apple orders in Canada...I only see the option to contact by phone.
