I used to drive for Amazon. Uk.
Drivers never had to pay for items if people fraudulently claimed DNA or anything else. However everything would get marked against the driver. Surprisingly enough even legitimate mistakes in the warehouse like wrong item in the box etc would also go against the driver.

These were called concessions. If the driver had too many concessions against their name they would get pulled on for retraining, if it continued it would result in disciplinary action , and eventually dismissal.

So as to your post, the company would pay for all this I presume with insurance etc, but drivers could pay with their job.

I remember once I was delivering to a gadget store run from someone’s home. They had around 200 brand new iPhones delivered and many galaxy fold phones. Some of the boxes were damaged and even slightly open. It would have been very easy for myself as the driver to steal one but even easier for the customer to claim for one or several.

I had many concessions against my name when I knew 100% I had made the delivery and handed to the customer. I was friends with a manager who showed me the address of the customer (which they shouldn’t do) so I knew I had made the delivery.

Do you know if your experiences were the industry norm or was it just amz uk?

I've gotten to know the local delivery guys, nice people who do honest work. It wouldn't be fair that they have to pay for my SE in any way, shape or form.
