So the driver called me to say he could slot me in for earlier delivery as noticed i was close and asked me to meet him outside so i did and he handed me the parcel, not a photo or signature logged for proof of delivery.

I think this sounds good for DNA but my concern is the circumstances of delivery as only i could have got the phone call for collection ?

Who's to say you answered the call and complied with the driver?

Will it get the driver in trouble or is this a case of it not making it to investigation due to lack of signature when it said one would be required? 

It's become a claim on a personal level - the driver did In fact call you, and neglected to obtain a signature when he/she should've done so.

As such, disregard the DNA.
