I did not alter it, so I don't know if that counts as 'fake tracking ID'. Other people reported success with the same companyI cannot see how It can possibly work:
- They've sent a return label
- They're obviously expecting the return to process the claim
- An empty envelope was sent Instead of the expected product
- They've received It and evidently, checked It - only to find some garbage as the return
How on earth has the method succeeded for others? They're either BS'ing, or the company Is still living In the stone age.
I know. It seemed like a long shot to me too, but username KingDead said it worked, and he seems legit. Maybe it's just in the US. Some companies still do the whole refund on first scan thing, so I thought maybe they did that. But... apparently not. I have proof of sending something, so I am trying to dispute it.

The retailer said they received an empty letter which was flagged by the carrier. They stated that it did not contain the returned items and due to the SIZE of the letter it never could have never contained those items claim to have been returned.
The size of the letter is key here. With the above example dry ice could have worked in theory if the weight matched when it was scanned at the depot.
Empty letter or ftid can work but the main part is luck, professionalism of your target company and your persistence/SE skills. It depends on the processes in place in the return department, how well they document returns and how is the communication between CS & returns.
This does make more sense, but they would have checked the contents regardless. The return was not weighed, so I can claim there a box with it. I will see if I can maybe succeed this way. Doubtful, but at this stage I think it's at least worth trying.
