No they would never say that. Perfume is a strong scent and you you shouldn't have to wash brand new clothes to wear them.

I do it all the time at Sephora with 1 perfume/cologne and expensive soap, face wash, moisturizers whatever and say when I opened the box it was leaking and got all over everything. and they reship or refund the whole order.
It doesn't have to be smashed into pieces just leaking.
No need to overthink it.

I just checked and I've been using the same account since March 2021 and have done 7 orders and they all say returned and paid for.
Wow I didn't realize how pathetically easy Sephora is because there's not that much I want there.
