I am thinking about using the switch method ( not heard of a actually name) where you switch out a new monitor for one that you bought that was damaged during shipping, you then remove and switch the s/n stickers. I've heard of a couple of others doing  this and would like to get as much info as possible before trying it.

The obvious flaw that I see is that lots of monitors have a s/n that can be accessed by the on screen menu, and it would be very hard to find out which ones can and cannot be accessed this way. The work around for this that I can see Is to buy a monitor that does not power on at all/ screen is so damaged you can't see the menu.

Let me know of your experiences/ any tips.
