UPDATE: So today another DHLExpress employee called me on my mobile phone, he called as anonymous to hide his number. (I am not even sure if this is legal or not. Not sure if I gave consent for them to call me anonymously on my mobile phone...). It seemed that this was the superior oder supervisor of the driver.
He didn't even introduce himself but only said "Hey it's DHL Express here. I am calling because of the missing delivery. The driver told me that he gave it to your wife."
I told him "This is not true. My wife opened the door for him yesterday and they didn't recognize each other. He didn't say that she accepted the package when he was standing in front of her. So how can this be possible? Look I paid lots of money on christmas gifts that never arrived. I am really upset and I was also collaborative to talk to the driver and answer his questions, go over to the neighbor's house etc. But now my patience is fading."
He said "What was in the box?"
Sadly I answered. I guess I didn't have to due to privacy etc. But he can find it out anyways I guess. So I said "Two Macbooks."
Then I actually got a video call from work. Told him that I need to take that call and he can call later.
After 8 minutes the driver called me. They definitely are located together physically and talking about the case or the supervisor called him to make him call me. I took the call and let him repeat himself 3 times, because I couldn't understand him that well.
He said something like "I need to file a police report now for the lost boxes. So I need to call the iPhone and then file a report."
I asked him to repeat that but more clearly because it's hard to understand him.
He said something like "So I need to go to the police now and file a report."
I said "Okay. So it takes even longer now? When do I get my order?".
He said "I don't know. I need to file a police report now because the iPhones they have GPS and so they can track and find them. Then we know where they are."
I thought >>He thinks I ordered iPhones? Or did he just mix it up himself because he doesn't know that a Macbook is?<<
I said "Okay sure." Did some annoyed sigh and said "So it does take longer...Okay."
Guys now I am a bit afraid. I searched on Google whether MacBooks can be traced. I've read lots of times here in the forum that only Smartphones or Devices with a SIM card and GPS can be tracked. But via Google I found out that probably DHL and Apple will mark these Macbooks as stolen, so once they are turned on and once someone logs in and activated iCloud etc. they will be blacklisted, deactivated or something similar.
Is that true? Am I rendering them useless? Will I need to sell useless Macbooks? Or even worse, can they track and trace them?
I believe the supervisor told the driver to call me and tell me this SO THAT I GET AFRAID. Kind of a tactic I guess. To see who is fucking around and who truly did not receive the delivery.
But now I kinda am afraid, even if it's just a bit. The thing is if this takes some more weeks I am sitting on my expenses on the credit card, paying interest on this purchase. Moreover, my aim to make a profit might be missed if the Macbooks are blacklisted or something. Is it worth it? Or should I just tell them that I talked to my family again and my sister told me she accepted them and put them somewhere I didn't find them. Or that they accidentally were put in other boxes and brought into the garage because it just looked like random brown boxes?
@mothered thoughts?
