DHL Return #1
During a SE I have agreed with returning the malfunctioning item to the company, since the item weight almost 60g I was just planning of boxing them if not that they use DHL courier to ship the item and DHL wants (according to their T&S) to check and inspect the item before they ship.

Reserving the return I've just got an email from DHL that say:
Quote:Thank you for scheduling a courier pickup with DHL!
...
Do not seal your shipment as the courier must inspect the contents.
...

So what can I do now? Of course due to covid-19 this might be ignored and there might be no inspection whatsoever, but what if there will be?
I was thinking of sending the package with the package of the item empty but what if the courier wants to open it and inspect it? Or to send a sealed cheap new item similar to the one that I have to return and hoping that the company will just check (taking advantage also about the fact that is near the Christmas) the package has just arrived to their warehouse without opening it.

Any other advice?

The problem Is you've stated that the Item Is nonfunctional, which will give the company reason to check your return.

To box them, you'd need to show signs of tampering and given the carrier Is aware that It must be Inspected, It will be Immediately noticed without opening It.

Quote:Do not seal your shipment as the courier must inspect the contents.
I assume they're asking you to take It to a DHL Service Point? If so, It will be checked.

To be honest, you should've researched more Into the carrier and their return policy, as well as selecting a method & Item suited against your (researched) findings.

For example, you could've used the sealed box method, thereby the carrier will only check that the box Is enclosed & sealed, and the same applies to the company- there's no reason to open and check If the Item Is enclosed on (what seems to be) a return In Its original state.

Please elaborate further on this.

No, they will pick it up form the address I declared.

Yes, you're right, That's what happens if you're in hurry, now I know it.

I mean: During the exchange of emails to the company I agreed to return to them the defective item.

Tell them that your work contacted you at the last minute and to meet a high volume of Christmas sales, you'll be away from home (or the address you declared) for the next week or so.

As such you cannot make arrangements for the package to be collected, and due to moving from one location to the next for work purposes, you cannot drop It off at a DHL Service Point. See how they react to that.

You can also mention that you're happy to send the package (seemingly from work) via another carrier service, thereby you can box them.

Good to read.

You can also say that you've received a jury summons In the mail, asking you to do jury service for a criminal trial. It can last 10 days or more, hence you obviously won't be around to arrange the collection of your package. However, the summons Is sent way In advance of the trial so to make It appear legit to the company you're SEing, you'd need to tell them before arrangements have been made with the carrier.

Do not worry, you will be able to drop your parcel in any DHL point during weeks.

Best regards,
They don't seem to understand that you're away due to work commitments- be It weeks or a couple of months, Is unpredictable due to the festive season.

Be adamant with what you've told them.

Telling them this, is your purpose the one to make them ship the package with another label? (different courier) In order to effectively boxing them?

It's to circumvent their request to collect the package or take It to a DHL Service Point, hence:
