Due to the weight of the iPad Pro I would not EB.

How about DNA'ing them somewhere around christmas/black friday? They might ask for a police report to refund you, but that probably won't harm you in any ways.

Another one you could try would be "The battery swole, there is smoke coming out as soon as I charge it". Never tried before and also don't know if they would ask you to go to a Certified Repair Store due to the warranty on the iPad.

Sealed Method is almost impossible to pull off because of the way Apple seals their iPad Pros.

Let me know which one you'll opt for, will probably try too.

Further to the above post, you also have the wrong Item received method.

In terms of the DNA, Is the carrier accepting a signature? If not, will photos be taken of the premises?

How does the wrong item method work?

So I would need to buy something else from the retailer that matches the weight of an iPad and return that instead of the iPad?

Correct.

Be sure It's a stock Item that's part of the same company's Inventory.

What's the easiest way to find another cheap item that matches the weight of an iPad Pro?

Checkout Amazon.

Under "Product Information", they have the weight and dimensions for just about every Item listed.

Isn't expensive stuff actually stored in different shelfs at the amazon warehouse? Wouldn't he then therefore have to buy an expensive item from one of those "expensive shelfs"?
