John Lewis refunds 06-21-2020, 11:35 PM
#1
Hey, just wanted to ask if anyone has done any John Lewis refunds recently and how they did it? I’ve ordered an iPhone + AirPods but they’re going to be delivered via DPD which means a pic will be taken in my doorway so can’t do DNA.
The weight will be a little heavy so can’t do EB either. Has anyone done FTID for John Lewis? Did empty box work via Royal Mail return? I paid via PayPal but ideally trying to go through John Lewis for the refund instead of a PP chargeback.
Thanks

You can with the AirPods. In total (charging case Included), they weigh around 55 grams, which Is Ideal for the missing Item/partial method.
What's the weight of the phone?

Does this refer to the doorway In your home, or at the doorstep?

Doorstep. I'm certain this is DPDs new policy.
In actually having an issue currently with exactly this. £100 ASOS order got delivered and the DPD guy left it on my door step and took a photo of it there with my front door half a jar, but not a single human in the photo. ASOS refusing to refund me as apparently this is proof of delivery. Despite me personally never receiving the parcel. I could have forgot to close my door when going to the shops for 5 minutes and someone jacked it. My electrician could have been moving tools from his van to my house and left the door ajar for ease of access, and someone could have jacked it. Etc.

Well-suited to the DNA.
You didn't personally receive and accept the package on delivery.

Or forgotten to close the door for the entire day whilst making your way to and from work.
They're failing to realize that proof of delivery, does not conclude that the account holder or any household member
personally received the package.

Precisely. However im still trying to convince them of this, and to issue my refund. And having done a simple Google search it seems they often refuse refunds.
Seems I may have to fallback to PayPal, which I'm not willing to do for a £100 order. Simultaneously I don't wish to keep the items, as they aren't worth £100.
Tempted to ftid / dry ice them now. Or simply return my stuff.

I agree that the cost of the Item (at 100£), Is not worth pursuing via a PayPal dispute/claim/chargeback. Save It for a high value Item.
As you're well aware, the power of SEing Is to keep manipulating a given situation until It succeeds.
Be adamant, hold your ground and keep pushing toward a successful outcome.

Th iPhone is 200g but they’ll both be coming in the same box. Recently DPD have been making me open the door to receive parcels just so they can take a picture. Last time I tried saying that I’m socially distancing and they said I should open the door and stand back.
Because of this I’m thinking easiest way is to just empty box FTID them but not sure if anyone else has tried this before. Last thing I want is John Lewis to only issue refund after they’ve checked the parcel / they check the tracking barcode on my parcel.
Thanks

One of the FTID methods, Involves showing the tracking number as delivered (carrier-wise), but the company has no physical nor administrative record of the package.
As such, they obviously cannot check the package on their end.

I did hear from someone who usually finds a McDonalds local to the distribution centre to send it to (via editing of course). My only worry is, John Lewis require a postage receipt when the item is sent.
...unless I just photoshop that too

The thing Is, carriers operate on a scanning system (hence tracking) and the package will be delivered to Its Intended destination.
Very rarely do they neglect a scan, and deliver solely based on what's written on the package.
