One of the ways to use CoViD to help SEing? #1
Hello all,

I was browsing curry's PC world and came across the following :
Code:
Important update on our delivery service for small items Our courier partners (DPD, Royal Mail and On the Dot) have all updated their delivery processes to take extra precautions due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please follow the below advice: 1. Customers can use the DPD app to nominate a ‘safe place’ for their delivery to be left if they do not want close contact. For customers unable to use the DPD app, DPD is still able to offer a contact-free delivery, and will take a picture of the property and capture a proof of delivery name instead of capturing a customer signature. 2. Royal Mail is an unsigned service . Where Royal Mail needs to deliver a parcel, its teams will place the parcel at the customer’s door. Having knocked on the door, the delivery teams will step aside to a safe distance while the item is retrieved. If the delivery cannot take place, Royal Mail will take the parcel to the local depot for collection by the customer. The parcel will be held for 18 days as per normal process. 3. For On the Dot, where a standard signature delivery is not possible, On the Dot will attempt to leave the parcel in a safe place and inform the customer of where the parcel has been placed.

Would that be useful for SEing, since there is absolutely 0 proof that nobody has just taken it, if, e.g. one set the DPD to put the product by a dustbin?

I am aware that there are a multitude of ways that CoViD-19 is helping the SEing, but this might just be another.

Key elements for the DNA method:
Quote:Customers can use the DPD app to nominate a ‘safe place’ for their delivery to be left
Quote:On the Dot will attempt to leave the parcel in a safe place and inform the customer of where the parcel has been placed.

They have not defined what's considered a "safe place". Moreover, they allow "customers" to nominate a safe place via the DPD app. This Is perfect DNA material.

Thanks for bringing It to our community's attention.

Although a sign is not needed, DPD take a picture of the parcel with a person next to it.

When you agree to leave your parcel in a safe place you are taking the responsibility in the case the parcel will be stolen/damaged.

I’m not say it’s impossible but it’s harder, you should hope the courier takes the responsibility and leaves the parcel unattended somewhere, or make sure the shop use a different delivery like DHL or UPS (where pictures are not taken).

With DPD, leaving at a safe place may make you responsible after drop off.

For Royal, if you can just be outside before they deliver, then DNA works as well since you don't know who received the package.

But with On The Dot, it seems perfect for DNA.
Unfortunately, I have to retire from SE.
Thanks for all the fun, knowledge, and discussions while I was active! SL really is an amazing community! Keep spreading your knowledge and grow as a community. Smile

In short, It basically allows you to manage and track your delivery, Inclusive of viewing the driver's profile- rating, number of deliveries, years of experience etc.

The Items are certainly light enough for a partial/missing Item.

In terms of the DNA, Is the carrier accepting a signature on delivery?

It is! I suggest to never tick that box.

Or at least to read the terms and conditions.
