In fact, It works to your advantage.

Alright good to know, thanks. I'll update the thread on the outcome. Now to try and find a product around the same size and weight and work on an account with different name and address.

You're welcome.

Please keep us updated as developments come to hand.

So an update.

I bought an item of the same weight and sent this back. Returns process has taken a lot longer than normal and I chased this with the chat service a couple days ago. They said "We can confirm that, due to the fact that this is a high value item, the refund will need to be processed by our management team.  Unfortunately, it is above my limit. We'll contact you back within 3 business days with confirmation on the status of your pending refund.".

Received an email from buyer returns yesterday afternoon saying that "Our Returns Department advised us that they received (item I sent them). We confirmed the  (what they sent me) was in the box given to Royal Mail at the time it left our fulfillment center." They also said "We are throwing-away  (what I sent them) that you sent. We will be happy to accept the return of the correct item at your earliest convenience."

Can anyone advise on what to do here? they seem pretty confident on what they originally sent me and even stating they're throwing-away the item I had just sent back to them.

Did you purchase the wrong Item from "Amazon", using a different account altogether?

I did, however the accounts address used was once in my address list, but a very long time ago. Would you imagine they'd check this? Also, do you know if this is a typical response to a high value return just to gauge what the buyer is going to do? As in, is it a typical bluff considering this happens so much.

There's every possibility that they've cross-checked the account, which will explain why the SE failed.

They'll only respond In that manner, If you give them reason to.

For Instance, every company Is under the Impression that the SE Is a legit claim. If It's treated as such, but manipulated accordingly without raising suspicion, then they'll have no reason to decline the claim.

Be adamant that you've received the Incorrect Item, and ask them to provide you with the grounds on how they've confirmed that the GPU was picked, packed and dispatched.

Given they don't believe the Item belongs to them, they have no right to dispose of It. They cannot trash an Item that's not their property.

If this Is their Intention (to throw It out), then they obviously think It's not your Item, but theirs which doesn't make sense In declining your claim.

I did a 1400 euro GPU this way, it went exactly how OP described (3 business days, upper management ecc.) but in the end they refunded me.
the item I sent back was purchased on a completely different friend's account. I also scratched off the barcodes on that item to make it impossible for them to link it to my friend.

It's reassuring to hear someone else has a high value item and succeeded. When the upper management replied to you, did they argue that they had in fact sent the correct item and not what you had sent back? They said in the email that they've discarded the item I sent them, which I find odd.

Would you mind filling me in on a bit more information regarding the conversations you had with them such as the steps you took conversing etc?

I didn't speak with upper management.
The normal rep said "I see that the 3 working days have expired, now I'll ask authorization to upper management and I'll send you an email with the outcome". After 20 minutes they sent me an email with refund confirmation.

Still fighting for a refund here. They are resorting to sending me automated scripted responses.

Ridiculous- one month later to the day, and they're still Indecisive with the claim.

Can you please provide a sample of their response?

Have you emailed jeff@Amazon.com? Is it the executive team sending these emails?
