Gotcha, just wanna say thanks for giving me all of the advice. Really helpful and I hope this SE comes out in my favor.

You're very welcome.

I aim to exhaust every avenue to ensure a successful outcome. As with every SE, the process differs and must be taken one step at a time.
So, instead of emailing me, he called me. He left a voicemail saying that there isn't anything that can be done without physically having the laptop. I can probably email him about a sob story or another reason why I need this laptop asap. Or do you think this is the end of the road?

Haha, maybe, but that might raise some other questions too.

Has he requested a specific carrier/service for the return?

No, I haven't followed up yet, not sure what he wants to do next. As far as he thinks, I don't have the laptop. I'll try to inquire more by email, I will probably just ask what can be done now.

No problem at all, take your time to ensure a smooth process and successful outcome.

Just keep In mind whether he requests shipment with a specific carrier. If not, you can say you've sent It via a given postal service- untracked.

How should I follow up on this? Should I say I was able to recover the laptop somehow, because he still thinks I got rid of it.

Precisely how did your last conversation end?

The last time I spoke to him was through the email that I posted here. He didnt respond to the email with an email but with a call instead. I didn't answer the phone when he tried to call me, so he left a voicemail and said that they couldn't do anything more without the laptop.

Request your claim be escalated, and see how they respond.

I was sent the email yesterday and he responded with, "Lenovo will need the machine in order to take any action. There is no escalation point which will provide another answer." Should I say that I managed to recover the laptop and proceed from there? But since I told them that the battery exploded or was close to, wouldn't that be a shipping hazard or does that not matter?

If It's a shipping hazard, It will work In your favor due to the carrier not accepting the Item, and the fact that you're complying with Lenovo's request.
