I'm using a brand new account that currently has an Amazon Prime trial.

The item I'm going to purchase is $99.99, weights aprox. 9.9 ounces and is fulfilled by Amazon.

I plan to use the DNA method to get a refund. Any tips or suggestions?

Given the Item weighs 280 grams, the DNA or wrong Item received method are both well-suited.

What's the Item?

What's the Item?

It's a modded gaming controller that I'll likely resell

Although you'll use the DNA method, given the nature and (low) cost of the Item, It's less likely that an Investigation will be opened.

I'm not saying that It won't take place, but In comparison to (for example) a gaming laptop which Is almost a certainty, the chance of your Item being Investigated Is significantly less. Please keep us updated with new developments.

If they do open an investigation I'll claim I found the package hidden somewhere and go through with a legitimate refund on the item.

Ultimately It's your call, but do note that an Investigation does have a high success rate.

It's simply used to comply with company protocol to move forward with the claim.

With the price, I think you'll be just fine.

I just received the item, and looked at Amazon to see that a picture was taken and posted of where the item was placed at my house.

Is the DNA method still effective at this point? I'm thinking I could say something along the lines of "That must've been when nobody was home and when I got back from work hours later it was gone." The package was clearly visible to anyone passing by that couldve easily taken it.

Was it placed outside your property or somewhere where a stranger could take it? If so they’ve given you the SE, they can’t prove you received it, all their info shows is that anyone at any point could have taken it thus leaving you without an item.

Should be okay to continue.
