Would this method work? 02-24-2019, 10:08 PM
#1
Hi all,
First post - I'm extremely new to this so please don't be too harsh!
My method is as follows:
1. Buy an expensive item online to be delivered
2. Buy a similar cheaper item from a different store
3. Go to the shop I got the first item from and claim I was sent the cheaper item.
4. Try to SE a refund instead of an exchange because the item was a 'gift' which I had to repurchase.
Considering trying this in a UK department store on holiday like J L
Any tips please?

I mean, that would be dependent on how strict the store's refund policy is and how often they have issues with this. Amazon works well because they have such a large volume. A smaller store would not work as well, but its definitely doable.

Yeah, I am sure, with enough research this could work.
There are online versions of this that even a child could do, but you need a lot more confidence to do a face to face SE.
Make sure you plan out what you are going to say, but don't have a script. If you use a script, you are assuming that the shop worker will reply in a certain way, and you could be thrown of guard by an unexpected question.
Good luck, and post an update on the outcome.

Assuming you are doing John Lewis I feel like you will be successful. Prepare for failure though, and don't go homeless because you spent a ton and expected to get it back. You should be fine and it should work though.
