Question about SEing a gaming laptop from Germany #1
Im in the process of ordering a gaming laptop from a german store, they are delivering to the UK through DHL. I was thinking of saying something along the lines of the laptop was damaged when it arrived and was leaking chemicals, because its from germany, i would think its a plausible excuse and with it being a different country could be harder for them to investigate. What do you guys think?

I could potentially opt for "wrong item received" and find a similar item they stock and send that back upon request but i would suppose on a £3k laptop they would most likely check cameras at packing and stuff so im unsure. Would you use a drop address for something like this or would you stick to legit details with it being a high value order will be harder and they would probably put more effort into investigating.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Social Engineering a £3000 laptop, especially from a smaller store is going to be a real challenge. They will fight tooth and nail to prove you wrong and could come after you if they take precautions to prevent this.

It might be slower, but SE'ing several cheaper items and selling them on eBay - then buying the laptop legitimately would be the safer option.

Would be too much work, high risk of failing
Better just SE a couple items on amazon and buy the laptop with that money ^^

It’s not a small store, they have a revenue of 900 million+ and have 9000 employees. They are Europes largest consumer electronics supplier and second largest in the world after bestbuy. I wouldn’t pick an unknown company for the reasons you have stated above.

There are a couple of German stores I’m looking at one of them employs 800 and has a revenue of 400 million. I think that’s a big enough company too right?

It being a larger store doea improve your chances, but I still wouldn't recommend trying an item that expensive unless you really know what you are doing. Goodwill and brand image goes out the window with an item that expensive, and your story will have to be pretty airtight to hold up.

And just to check - is it MediaMarkt that you are referring to?

Whatever method you choose, due to the Item's value, expect a somewhat lengthy process with your claim.

Both the DNA and wrong Item received methods are suited. However, you must be comfortable, methodical and extremely confident with your SE selection, formulation and execution.
