How safe buying SEd electronics 02-19-2019, 09:22 PM
#1
Hey,
There are lots of experienced ppl in Sinister about SE.
Recently I saw a guy who is selling Dell XPS laptops for cheap. I wonder if it is safe or not. If I buy a laptop using reship to ship EU can I get any legal trouble later on? Any experiences?

If anything did happen, you could easily say you saw it on facebook marketplace, letgo, or anything like that. and it was half off. I doubt any repercussions will happen!

Whilst it is safe in terms of the after-se experience, by the original company, it might not be safe in terms of scams.
Unless you absolutely trust the seller, I wouldn't do it, instead, buy a method and a serial and do it yourself

If it has any IMEI's and such attatched to it (mobile phones for one), I'd avoid it, purely for the fact that it can be blacklisted and blocked.
However, if it's an electronic such as a toothbrush, mouse, monitor, laptop, pc components, etc. It's absolutely fine.
I mean, however would you know that it's a 'stolen' item you've purchased? You simply checked the market for the lowest possible item and you purchased it. These items cannot be blocked.

If It's for personal use, trust me, you'll be fine.
Without going Into specifics, many years ago, I used a couple of laptops obtained via SEing and the like. As long as you do not use service tags or any Identifiable details (serials etc) online, you're good to go.
