Amazon IMEI Block? #1
Want to refund an iPhone 6s Plus that I bought. It's locked to Simple Mobile for 12 months (I already knew and accepted this, I use them.) But it's shipped AND sold from Amazon, so I'm assuming even IF I'm able to get the refund (considering it's a brand new iPhone) then they'll definitely block the IMEI, I'm 90% sure. Purchase price is $299.99.

I'm assuming there's no way to get around this? No, I don't want to jailbreak the iPhone or change the IMEI.

Contact the network company and ask to unlock it, if they give you reasons for 'atleast 1 year service', talk about bad network service or something.

For amazon, if you are going to refund it, if you say the item is broken or leaking, they probably wont block it.
With Amazon or any big company you can never be sure what the rep is thinking or will do.

You could say item did not arrive, which they would look into.

If you say you received it, with only an invoice (make sure you have it printed first before you contact them), they would think it wasnt placed in the package. And when you return it, make sure you make up for the weight difference, but thats probably not needed since it very lightweight, you could add more packaging.

Ah, so you can really finesse an unlock?

Yes, you can filll out a specific request form, or phone the network.
But also understand that you have timeframe for returning items and getting a refund.

But the process is usually 1 working day in my experience.

For the first thing, not really sure with what I can feasibly say. It's obvious that DNA or "This item came in the box, but not that one" will lead to an IMEI blacklist. Don't really feel like using the return method either-- not to mention that they would be awfully stupid if they didn't check the box.

Main thing is, I'm not messing with smartphones that are sold and shipped from Amazon. Especially not with an account that's not really aged too much- I'm either getting a failed investigation or a mandatory police report (don't want to file one.) I am fairly satisfied with the purchase either way.

Now the network unlock, not too sure how I'll convince the parent company TracFone to unlock it before their mandatory 12 month wait (as noted in TOS) but I already knew this before I bought the phone, and don't intend on switching carriers anyways, so why not just wait my time? I already called them just for kicks and they simply just say the device is ineligible and send me on my way.

You could give reason that the item is missing and return it either way, whatever they might try to get in touch with you. They might not even contact you, after all the operation from warehouse to customer reps are different, they might have to send the information to customer reps. But you can add something else, an old smartphone maybe, or something that weighs similar? I think that would work.

But then again the item not arrived, is probably the first approach you should have, Try it, obviously they have to manually block, so make up an interesting/emotional story such as a birthday or girlfriend leaving for university lol to cause little confusion.

Too risky for me since this is my primary phone. And I highly doubt a story will prevent them from blocking the IMEI. It's apparently "lost or stolen" either way so they give zero fucks.

There's nothing I can really say that would make them give me a partial. They usually just ask if I want to return the device and if I say something other than "Yes I want to return" then they send me over to the "specialist team" which means you aren't getting shit or they have more than 3 brain cells so the simple excuses won't work.

But if you really want, transfer the number to a network, then apply for refund to be on the safe side. Maybe you like the new samsung model more or p20 lol ;P

But by those words, i assume that you dont care either way, maybe working towards a future SE on the account.

As far as phones go in the future, I just did a refurb galaxy s8+ FBA to a locker. Phone came in a sealed white box with no identifying info other than amazon's own sticker which doesn't seem to have an imei or sn on it. I was only able to find a serial or imei on a sticker on a plastic baggy then phone came in. Told them I received an iphone (water damaged 6 I bought for $20) and sent the phone back in the plastic baggy with the serial etc removed. Received refund on package scan

Had it for 2 weeks now with no blacklist. Thinking they can't be sure which imei should have been in the box so they won't blacklist in case they end up blocking a different on they sold by mistake.

Anyway fba but not sold by amazon refurbs seem to be safest as they can't be sure which imei was "misplaced"
