It can work, however packages are weighed on consignment, so the expensive Item would have to be extremely light.

If not and they open an Investigation with the carrier, and then establish that the weight of the package matched all 3 Items, the SE will fail.

Also I noticed that its being shipped through amazons own shipping service does this affect the process at all do I have to be carful what stock item I pick because of this?

As long as they stock It, that's all that matters- regardless how It's shipped.

Alright well the package is actually coming tomorrow (12/12). I'll go through the return process and see what happens.

I still cant come up with a good stock item. Is the weight really that important if it is the wrong item? Wouldnt it weigh differently? I’ve been looking for electronics but I was wondering if I could just get a candle or something.

Packages are weighed on consignment, so the weight must represent that of the purchase Item (or close to It).

If they open an Investigation with the carrier and there's a significant discrepancy In weight, the claim will most likely be declined.

Is there anyway to figure out the exact weight of the package without weighing it yourself?

The weight is on the packaging label and you can also find the weight of the item on the amazon listing.

The weight of the "package" (example, "box") Is not relevant, only the "Item"- that's all you're concerned with.

As @MrSamuel mentioned above, check It on Amazon. You can also navigate to other websites who're selling the same Item.

Well I found a little sledge hammer that weighs roughly the same so I’m going to attempt to use that. Hopefully it works for a GPU lol theyre completely unrelated.

do you think I would be better off just trying to return my old gpu in the 2080 box and hope they do not notice

Why not get/purchase a significantly cheaper Item that they stock (Inventory), weighs roughly the same as the GPU, and tell them you've received that? When they request the return, send that. No problem If they check It- It's a stock Item.

Just for over clarification purposes when trying to do this type of SEing its important that the alternate item is also stocked in the amazon warehouse (as stated by mothered), also referred to as fulfilled by Amazon in the UK.
(the idea being a member of staff just picked up the wrong item and put it in the box which happens multiply times a day for real in this type of environment genuine mistakes)

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
