Amazon SE Questions 12-10-2018, 05:08 AM
#1
Im going to be attempting to get a rtx 2080 from Amazon. My plan is to contact support and tell them that when I opened the the box I found a dfferent GPU in it than labeled (my old gpu).
My first question is do you think I would be better off just trying to return my old gpu in the 2080 box and hope they do not notice or use the method described above?
My second question is if it fails and they do not want to refund me will I be able to return the actual product without saying anything and hope they dont say anything? I really wouldnt want to keep the 2080 if it isnt going to be free.

Why not get/purchase a significantly cheaper Item that they stock (Inventory), weighs roughly the same as the GPU, and tell them you've received that? When they request the return, send that. No problem If they check It- It's a stock Item.

Im trying not to spend money but I will look into it to see how cheap I can find one. So you just make two seperate purchases (on different accounts im assuming) and say that the cheaper one of the two is what you received instead of expensive one? Have you tried this method yourself or know that it works?

No, you perform the transaction on the same account as follows.
* Order your GPU and upon receipt, tell them that they've sent an Incorrect Item (the stock Item that you've purchased).
* They'll request the Item be returned.
* Send the wrong Item.
* They check It and see It's part of their Inventory, hence no reason to decline the claim.
* You'll receive a refund/replacement.

So you buy the stock item on the same account as the gpu youre buying just seperate orders? Does that look suspicious? And does the stock item have to be another GPU or literally anything sold by amazon.com?

No at all.
Purchase the Item from "another store" that Amazon also stocks. Amazon's products are not exclusive to their Inventory.
EDIT: I've just read the above post- exactly as I've stated.

Thank you for all of this info and sorry for the dumb questions I was just confused on what you were saying because
I’m really new to this. I have a couple final questions for you as I’m going to be buying a 2080 today.
How close should the weight of the stock item be?
When it is time to return the stock item do I go into support chat or do I just use the “wrong item received” return option?
And finally if this fails do you think I will still be able to return the 2080 to break even and not get stuck with it?

No problem with your questions- we're here to help.
* The weight doesn't have to be exact, close enough Is fine. Some carriers actually round-up the weight, so It's not entirely accurate on consignment.
* Yes, use the wrong Item received option.
* In terms of failing, we need to see their reason/response and take It from there.

Well I purchased the GPU today. Now we wait. Do I even have to talk anybody when using this method? I go to Returns Item->Wrong Item Sent(It asks for the item you received instead and that is it). I'm assuming from there it moves forward with the shipping process and avoids going into the live chat or calling amazon completely, just using their return system or am I misunderstanding?
