Has anyone ever bought a cpu and returned a different one in the same package? If so then tell me how it went and how much it was

I've done this with an i7 8086k. At the time it was valued at about $456 after tax. Replaced with a Pentium , returned it saying the CPU did not work and got my refund after a week. Hope this helps.

I've done this with a video card that was completely different than the one that came in the box. This was about 3 years ago and didn't have a problem. I claimed the item was not as described so I think that covered my ass a bit.
I think it was probably the laziest "SE", if you could even call it that, that I have ever done, long before I realized how easy it was to pull stuff like this off...
This was a while ago and am in no way guaranteeing it will work but if you're putting an almost identical intel in and intel box and sending it back you'd probably me alright...
Good luck.
