Up thread idea. #1
Hello all,

This plugin will be super useful since, everyone wants to bump up their own threads right?
Well, What if sinister implemented their own "Up Thread", so the person DOESN'T need to comment and end up with 2 pages of "Bump" and fishing for NSP.
It will make the forums look clean instead of spam continuously and, it can have a 24 hour feature.

So, It will eliminate:
- Spamming in own thread
- People are then having to click the up thread ONLY 24 hours or more. (If they say "bump" in thread, just remove it in my eyes.)
- Remove the farming of NSP
& more.

Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out: Up Thread Xenforo

Hope I explained the situation pretty clearly.

This will not stop members from simply posting and bumping their thread.

Members who wish to prioritize their thread will (and do) bump as they please, Irrespective of being repeatedly told otherwise. The Implementation of an Up Button Is not the Issue, but more so being compliant with forum rules.

That is what up thread does. It bumps it for you instead of typing and flooding the thread.

I realize that, but as said, It will not prevent members from bumping their thread to their heart's content.

We use MyBB, not Xenforo. I have considered implementing this in the past. I am against the idea, as I think replies should be the only reason a thread gets bumped. Keep in mind anyone could take advantage of it.

Oh then, I don't know if MyBB even has one. Kinda pointless of this thread then :/

RE: Up thread idea. #7
It would function as Intended If posts could not be generated (bumped) by the thread's author, unless the Up Button Is clicked when time-frame elapsed. Of course, If another member replied prior, the OP can do the very same.

The Up Button would also need to be specific to the OP, and not just anyone who wishes to prioritize the thread. It can work, but does require fine tuning.

that I can agree on from what you've stated. Yes, that would indeed.

In simple terms:
  • The OP cannot physically post prior to 24 hours unless another member has done so.
  • The Up Button can then be used after the 24 hour period.
  • The Up Button must be dedicated to the OP's usage.
