Precisely this.

Just adding to It, be sure to perform your practice runs on fictitious grounds. When your confidence builds, you can go ahead with the real deal.

I'm so tempted to give this a shot and build confidence. I feel I can do it but, I just need a base story that I can run from. If they put something, I know what to say next and that type of shit. Usually when I have a real issue, I know what to say and etc but, geez.

No two SE's are alike In It's entirety. Each Is performed on a case-by-case basis.

I wish there were solid grounds to work from, but unfortunately, there Isn't and never will be.

Part if the reason I said try stuff with friends and family. This way you have little to not repercussions of stuff so long as you limit what you're asking them. Fictitious and testing environments work well. It'd be an interesting thing to have someone else you know in the realm of social engineering pose as a rep or supervisor to get them used to talking with these people, given the person posing has an idea of how this particular company or whatever would go. It maintains comfort as its still your friend, but gets you used to the type of conversation.

Definitely so, and I certainly took this Into account.

I didn't elaborate on the exactness of the practice run, so simply put, It's also best performed In real-case scenarios without providing Identifiable Information. As such, you'd have a better understanding of the terminology used, questions raised and how they expect to be answered. The experience (when executed on various entities), will help formulate methods with ease.

100% social engineering, 98% with the objective of obtaining a refund.

Remember It's the method that's classed as SEing, not the result.
