Due to private possessions, It's locked, hence no one Is to know the locker's contents.  So they'd claim that they had valuables stolen, and you'd be the first to be questioned.

I didn't have to give any sort of ID so the worker does not know who I am. Kids lose their locker keys all the time so me going in and asking for the key was not suspicious. He will not remember that I am the person that took that specific key.

Your school should Implement proper protocols and only provide keys where warranted, and not just give them to anyone who asks. You could've been anyone off the street, asked for the key and go about your ways thereafter. In the end, their lack of security worked In your favor.
