I disagree honestly, never arrived is the best method. Package theft happens and Amazon can't discriminate between a $50 item being lost and a $500 one.

Both methods will require the approval of a supervisor if it's a somewhat high order, and both work for average orders, but the never arrived puts highly more risk to your Amazon account and will more likely get you into an investigation even if it's a low order, yet should be used on +$500 orders nonetheless.

I'd rather fraud Amazon, the multi-billion dollar company, than a smaller company that barely makes into the upper hundred thousands; it's not fair on either of the companies. While it is not fair on either company, the more preferred choice is Amazon, here is a couple reasons:

1. People actually have hearts and don't want to SE smaller companies and make them lose money
   
2. Due to these companies possibly being small, they will deal with more caution than Amazon, i.e. asking you for further proof or contacting the delivery services
   
3. Amazon representatives, customer support and the refund/replacement department are generally obliged to process a refund or replacement, due to you being the customer; they also don't want to waste a lot of their time contacting third party services to confirm whether or not you received your package, all for a couple hundred bucks, when they make that in less than an hour

This is also true; Amazon are occasionally aware of you social engineering them(only on rare occasions when the representative actually has a functioning brain and has been SE'd before), but, they don't want to waste time for a couple hundred bucks as aforementioned; they also don't want to waste time.

I've skim-read the thread, I saw someone said FedEX show up at your door to confirm whether or not you received it? This is untrue, unless you ordered from a third party service that is strongly against refunding or replacing you. Amazon will most likely not waste their time, unless this order is in the upper thousands.

Other than this and that, these methods are great for beginners to help them start/learn. Good job, OP.
