That's pretty cool, and looks like it works really well, but I'd definitely recommend trying to condense things with loops and turning your multiple if blocks into if/else if blocks, if not switch/case statements.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

This looks really sweet, i'm liking the stuff you're posting LaTortue
Might try this with my raspberry pi if i get the required mats. Would be pretty cool project and i'd probably learn a thing or two
