Open Social Engineering to Public? #1
Should we open the Social Engineering section to the public? While we initially locked the section to preserve our .LY domain, that was clearly in vain. No amount of content restrictions would sate the Libyan overlords.

We're considering opening the section to the public again. We'll likely require registration to view the section, though. I know some of you paid money for your upgrades, so if people want the section to remain restricted I'm happy to honor that.

Yes, we need more search traffic to the website.

Yes, but whether you can join is entirely up to @Green314. The entry requirement, to my knowledge, has always been significantly higher than Bronze.

Why not, I say let's go for it
Everything I post here is fictional. Anything mentioned on my posts that corresponds to events that happened in real life is coincidental.

Oni I was well above bronze even before the owner switch took place. I still would like some sort of access.

Adding to this, could we consider making it available upon invite?

For the most deserving there is the 'Deceit' group, which features a separate, private forum designed for more exclusive methods.
You can read about how to aim for admission here: https://sinister.li/Thread-How-to-Join-Deceit-Group

And btw: as long as I am here and this forum stands, this group will thrive. While outside commitments may prevent me from being online every single day, my dedication is absolute in ensuring this community remains vibrant and active. The time and passion you choose to invest here are never wasted.

In my opinion, the priority is not so much focussing on the (few) "Bronze" users who bc of that bought upgraded, but rather recovering the forum's historical traffic, which was heavily driven by the Social Engineering section. With ~15k threads and ~150k posts already indexed online, that content pool inevitably guarantees a substantial organic influx of visitors. Once a steady and active user base is restored, nothing will prevent us from making that section private again in the future.

Unfortunately, I cannot validate any upgrades NekoElf sold. That's the harsh reality of the situation. When the site was offline he had a chance to buy the domain again or seek a replacement domain. While I understand his situation very clearly, I only returned because he chose not to. The alternative was to leave the site inexistent, but I cannot verify what he did and didn't sell. When people invested in his version of the forum, that came with the unfortunate truth that he did not intend to keep it online once the domain was lost.

In regards to Deceit, it is a privately owned usergroup. It was purchased by a user and it is the group's decision who is allowed to join. Because it is privately owned I have practically no say on who is allowed to join, but @Green314's current requirements are significantly higher than just buying upgrades on the forum. You will have to talk to him, as this is sadly one of the areas where I have no control at all.

I agree. The reality is that the section's contributions heavily outweigh the few number of people that upgraded in the past 3 months. The bottom line is that we shuttered it specifically to be compliant with .LY, which was in vain. There is no purpose to keeping it closed, so I will proceed by unlocking it.

There are zero votes of "No" after several days, so it is unanimous.
