MacBook Help 01-06-2024, 04:26 PM

Hey guys, I am hoping to maybe get some advice on this. So I hypothetically did a refund with Apple for a 16” MacBook Pro, but it needed a PR. I definitely don’t want to use the device and also don’t want to sell it, as I don’t want this to become a huge issue later on. I was thinking of buying a new one from Amazon, and then maybe short circuit the one I have or destroy it in some other way, and then swap the base plates that have the Serial engraved. Do you think this will work out and I get a clean Mac or is it better to just part it out and sell it that way.
I was also thinking of maybe using it to trade in, but that will probably result in the same risks as just selling it to some random person.

If you did a refund, you're good to go and use it once that money hits your account.

It’s directly from Apple, I am just really unsure as a PR was filed, although I basically gave 0 info in it, besides the address.
I just heard from cases where Mediamarkt/Saturn really pursued those stolen items, and people got police summons like a year later, so I am thinking the same could possibly happen here. Especially since they can just track the serials and Apple has all your data with FindMy/AppleID.
I was thinking the destroying route, could be a good option as I was thinking a giant company like Amazon probably won’t investigate one Defect Mac that much, they probably just write it off and throw it away, but I sadly don’t know anything about their process when it comes to that.
