(Successfully?) EB Bestbuy but asked to return the box

I recently ordered a Samsung Flip 4 on Bestbuy and said it was filled with junk instead of the real phone. Now the rep asked me to return the box in order to get a refund. Could that be a problem? I'm feeling worried cuz it might be the most smooth SE experience ever, $1100, fresh account, no investigation. Also if I want to keep it for personal use, what can I do so it will not be tracked?

Yes, I asked if I can get refund after shipping the box back and they said yes. Hope it's alright

They will not track it, the worse will be to get it blacklisted, but it will be blacklisted only in your country hence you have two main options: selling it abroad and buy a good one with the money or try to swap it buying another phone and returning your one instead.
Anyway I know if you buy from Samsung they will blacklist imeis, but I don’t know about best buy. Try to read around on the forum to have an idea
