Currys UK require ID for Cash purchases

Just trying to add to the SE knowledge base here.

I am planning on SEing a camera from Currys with in-store cash SB method to maximise anonymity for reselling and also avoid chargebacks and whatnot. I will get a fake ID beforehand now

I've purchased in-store Currys with cash and haven't been asked for proof of ID? This might just be your local store.

Personally, I don't hand out my ID to any retailer.

Would they show me theirs? I didn't think so.

How much was the purchase?

I contacted customer support on webchat and they said ID was required that's all

What were the specifics of your request? What item and what value? This is utterly ridiculous if they require ID for cash purchases.

Is this even legal in what they are doing? Although wouldn't be surprise at this point we are moving to cashless society where you will own nothing and be happy. Watch CBDCs become the way of legal tender. Its going render cash as literally paper when you go to WC.

Did you ask them to justify why they need your personal credentials for simply making a cash purchase, that has no relevance nor the need to verify the transaction?

I've never once been asked for ID to buy anything other than Cigarettes or alcohol in my life. This surely can't be true? What does showing them an ID show unless it's an age restricted product?

Further to my previous post, purchases that're purely bought with a credit card do not require ID, so what makes cash payments any different?
