Apple SN repair, alternative to dry ice method #1
Hi,

I'm new this this forum and have gotten lot of ideas by going through different posts. I'm looking for expert opinion on my case.

I got a macbook SN from ebay, contacted support and requested for a repair. They sent me a box to send macbook through overnight shipment. I'm thinking instead of using dry ice method to match the weight, send a random book then cut out a piece in the box and stick a different tape. Show that macbook is actually stolen and replaced with something else. Then do SE and push for a replacement.

Any thoughts or feedback on this method? Thanks.

Companies, especially Apple, have grown smarter over time and tightened their claim assessments.

It's obviously nowhere near as effective as dry Ice. It may work, but do expect a very lengthy and arduous process.

Thanks for your feedback.
Understood, it is not as robust as dry ice method. But when it comes to claims, isn’t it same analogy as a stolen item during transit? Dry ice (missing item) v/s Book (replaced item)

I know doing SE to push for replacement is a stretch, but I guess worth a try.

The analogy Is similar, but dry Ice gives the Impression that someone quickly stole the Item and left - which any thief will logically do.

The replacement of books Is a little hard to justify. Who has books on hand In transit matching the weight of the product, In anticipation to replace It when they have no Idea beforehand of Its actual weight?

Now I’m thinking about it, you’re right, whoever is stealing has no prior knowledge of the weight to replace something inplace of the item.

Also, the weight match at the time of package drop off will be same as during delivery to apple. Incase they do carrier investigation, it doesn’t look like actually stolen instead sent wrong item.

I’ll think it through and see what I can come up with. I have 30days to send the item for repair, will definitely keep ya'll posted

That's pretty much what I'm referring to.
