Hello all,

I hope you are all well. Does anyone know any methods to get cheaper/free car insurance? That would be a devious lick.

Regards,

Gordon.

You can often get significant discounts by calling companies directly and undercutting them with fake offers. Such as "My current company said they could do it ... 20% cheaper than what your offering..."

In terms of free car insurance nothing comes to mind

I'd be keen to know if any tricks too, my premium is going up by about 50% year-on-year which is a complete joke! They have no explanation as to why, just that "it is"...

As mentioned above by another user. Discounts can often be obtained by falsely claiming another company has offered you a much lower price e.g what you're paying now. And you will be leaving the current company. They will often offer to match the new quote.

Unfortunately it's not always guaranteed, I've had multiple encounters where the person on the other end of the phone says "no problem, I will cancel down your insurance since you have found another quote elsewhere". Insurance companies are not ones to easily push around but I do think it also depends on the person you are speaking to, I've just been unfortunate to get through to the same type of person on the 2-3 occasions I've tried to call their bluff.
