I'll address It shortly.
Are they responsible for returns?
Yes they are
Have you decided to pursue It?
Not yet, my payment did not go through. Using a STACK reloadable card and they don't accept that for whatever reason. Not willing to use my real CC. Not sure if you have a solution for that.

What was the reason for the declined transaction?

Fixed it just now. Probably just that they don't accept reloadable credit cards. Used a KOHO card instead and it ended up being fine.

What do you think about this :
Once I get the item, contact their support team and claim the following damage : Battery seems like it exploded/got damaged and the acid splash also broke the camera (battery is detachable from camera).
Obviously get someone who is skilled at photoshop, but I think that would be preferred. If they ask for return, I can tell them shipping company did not want to have a hazardous item shipped back. Thus, I have disposed of it appropriately.
The way they operate and issue refund/replacement is the following : They wait until they receive the item to have it examined and then decide what they should do to resolve the matter with the customer.
If I use dry ice, they will have to open an investigation with the shipping company and it could take way longer.
Thoughts on my method @

Very well planned, you've basically covered all angles.

Is the battery susceptible to exploding and leaking as described?

Did a quick search, and doesn't seem like anybody has experienced such issue yet. However, that does not make it impossible to happen. I could also poke the shipping box and original item packing to make it seem like something sharp went through and got in contact with the battery. Thus, that would've caused the battery to leak/explode.

Just make sure of It.
They may contact the manufacturer, who will confirm reported cases (If any) as well as whether It can explode/leak under any circumstances.

Looked further into it, no reported cases on public forums or blogs. Might go with a poked/crushed box that damaged the battery. Will think about it and use the appropriate claim in due time when item will be received.
