SE attempt #2:
Would love to hear what you think @mothered .
Switching the goal from a nice tower to nice laptop.
Have a few questions:
I'm going to try the leaky battery "defective had to dispose" method for this if I get OTP'd otherwise DNA.
"Hey you sent me this laptop and it burst into flames on my doorstep! I want my money back now!" or something like that?
Is that the best method for this?

When SEing through amazon is it better to go for "Sold by amazon" or sold by third party seller if I want to do the above method?

If the seller ships the item could I potentially get away with an EB because they might not weigh it like amazon does?
Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Display-i7-1...th=1&psc=1
Third party:
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Pulse-GL66-Ga...th=1&psc=1

It's best to wait at least 14 days be4 saying it showed up on fire right?

Any advice on what to say if they ask for pictures or are they likely to just give me the refund since my accounts in excellent standing?

I thought no factory seals was a good thing.
The purpose of factory seals Is to obviously demonstrate whether or not the box has been tampered with. And If there are no signs of Inconsistencies, It's less likely to be opened and checked.

Clear tape on the other hand, serves no purpose - anyone can open and re-tape It, hence returns are checked a lot more often than not.

In my view, Its success Is equally divided at 50/50.

Disposed of the faulty Item would be easy for that right?
As said In my previous post, It can be an arduous process.

Basically any reason that warrants Its disposal - started smoking, caught fire, etc.

To avoid saturation, I won't discuss the methodology used.
By arduous process do you mean I will just have to have a lot of chat/calls with a CS rep or am I going to need to still FTID it somehow?
I don't mind chatting them up for a few weeks.

It's extremely unlikely, If not Impossible, for It to catch on fire at your doorstep.

Simply say It was powered up and caught fire.

Don't demand a refund -It demonstrates signs of desperation, which In turn Is likely to raise suspicion.

Sold and shipped by Amazon.

The carrier weighs It at their depot.

There are three formula units used as follows:
  • Actual weight
  • Dimensional weight
  • Billable weight

There are no hard and fast rules.

At your convenience.

Stating the obvious, Photoshop It.

It's not as simple as that.

The Item value and the method used, warrants a thorough claim assessment.
