Can I ask for the one time exception to not send it back and have the refund anyway ? Maybe by making up an excuse saying that I'm leaving the country for an unknown amount of time and that I didn't take it with me as it was not working at all.
You can ask for a one-time exception during the claim's assessment (using the excuse above), when It's at the stage of Apple requesting the Item be returned.

Keep telling them that the police are refusing to provide one. And include a screenshot of the email of the police’s response to your online police report. You have to keep at it. Mix it up with a few phones to apple support complaining about the whole situation.

Don’t know how to quote threads but here’s the link to the thread where I deal with apple’s customer support asking me for a signed police report: https://sinister.li/Thread-Any-recent-Apple-EB-SEing

You'll need to actually file a police report.

Without the PR, your claim will not move forward.

I did online only, not in person. They keep asking for a police report hard copy and i have no idea what that is. I send them the PDF and i am claiming that thats all they do "the police" and told apple they have told me there is nothing more they can do.
Hope This Helps

It's a stamped and signed printed copy.

Have they responded to this?

I've completely missed this quote.

The point Is, the police do not provide It, so that Information should be forwarded to Apple and they can sort It out between themselves - Apple & the police department. It's been a week since your last post. Any updates?

I think i updated it in another thread related to this, regardless, got my refund out of nowhere. took alot of hassling. my main problem now is the switch ftid. been more than a month and they just keep saying their team is working on it. my idea is that they are trying to find the 'switch' when i sent an envelope. i think they are stalling on me so i forget about it.
Hope This Helps
