When mining with Ethash or Etchash, you need to have enough GPU memory to store the DAG. For example, mining Ethereum requires you to have at least 4.4 GB of available GPU memory, as that is the size of the DAG at the time of this writing. Because of this, GPUs with less available memory than the required DAG cannot mine at all. I read on https://digitalmasta.com/top-8-best-mini...-ethereum/ that you can mine Ethash / Etchash cryptocurrencies with smaller DAGs, like Ethereum Classic (ETC). The other thing you need is a reasonably recent CUDA or OpenCL compatible driver for your GPU.
