Update: emailed them yesterday night and had a reply that they are "still researching the delivery"
I will call tomorrow pissed off that I am not hearing anything back and it has been 5 days now.

The upside Is, they've had ample time to decline the claim, but It seems there's no evidence to do so at this stage.

Update @mothered, received an email asking for a signed statutory declaration signed by myself and a qualified witness or "Justice of the Peace" and a police report. I am a bit confused with who needs to sign this.

They are saying its for me not receiving the delivery when I did in fact, but just an "empty delivery".

Quote from declaration.
"A Justice of the Peace is an acceptable witness for a Statutory Declaration in any state or territory in Australia where he/she is registered to act as one. A wide variety of other people - apart from the Justice of the Peace - are qualified to witness a statutory declaration and include legal practitioners, dentists, medical practitioners, pharmacists and notaries public."

Who should I get to sign this? I am not close friends or family with any of these, apart from my sister but she is quite a new registered nurse.

Any help appreciated

Initially had to call, no live chat option. Explained the situation and he put me on hold and came back 5 minutes later saying that I will be followed up via email on the investigation.

The next day (today) was contacted via email to send through photos which I did this afternoon. I expect a reply tomorrow hopefully.

Keep us updated please, if you succeed I might yolo a macbook.

If you plan to please update, very interested in this idea

Go to any chemist and a pharmacist will witness and sign It. Priceline Pharmacy can definitely do It for you. A police officer will also suffice.

But make sure you personally sign It In their presence, and not beforehand.

Final Update:
SE success! Apple sending a replacement.
30 minutes after sending them the PR number and signed declaration received the email.
Thanks for all the help y'all.

Now what to do with the original iPhone, I want to sell it but also don't want the guilt of selling someone a potentially blacklisted or phone marked as stolen.

What would you do in this situation?
Maybe wait a few weeks and see if the IMEI comes up as clean then sell it?

That's pointless imo. The phone can be blacklisted after a day, a week, a month or not at all.

If you aren't going to use it yourself, I would either sell it or make an In-Store SE with that phone.
