  • I got in touch with Amazon about 20 minutes after my order arrived saying I had received wrong item - they demanded police report - I disputed this on the phone and got put through to manager
  • Manager told me to send pictures of wrong item in iPhone Amazon box with pictures of the Amazon box barcodes etc. (this was a tight fit with the "wrong item" I used, so I recommend trying to order something of similar dimensions to a laptop to avoid running into issues with this
  • They told me to send it back, so I obliged and UPS picked it up the next day
  • I had to wait 2 weeks for my refund as they didnt scan it on delivery which was annoying but refund did land.

This is a brief breakdown of what happened with my Wrong Item received method and it was a great success.
Nice, how recent was this?  I never had much luck with the wrong item method on Amazon, at least recently, can't remember if I ever did.

This was about a month ago, had to stay firm as it took them a while to accept that I did not have to file a police report, I also had trouble after 2 weeks of them receiving it; CS rep kept saying they did not receive parcel despite tracking saying otherwise, once again got put through to a manager, had to fill out a brief form explaining when I sent it, what I sent etc. and I got my refund in my bank 2 days later.

Did the manager insist you file a police report? What did you say not too?

Also, the laptop in question has a reported weight of 1.9kg in the manufacturer's website. On Amazon though the package weight is only 1kg. Am I missing something here?

It was on an aged account, if you read above it was an iPhone. iPhone 13 Pro Max to be precise, they were insistent on me filing a police report because they kept thinking I said I received an EB but I said, no, I received wrong item, it took a while for them to understand this.
I am but a simple gnome who likes free things, none of this is real. It is all simply fiction.

What was there grounds for denying the SE? Was the item of the same weight & size? Did you show them the same parcel the original item came in like this OP?

As per @BitPlayer's post above, use the wrong Item received method.
I'm thinking of moving forward with the wrong item received method. Is there any chance that they will ask for the outer packaging that the wrong item came in? If so, how would I be able to proceed with the SE given that the outer packaging will have a different name and address?
